Proud to be a 澳门皇家赌城在线大学 Alumni from the 90’s and a lifelong  pillar of this community who’s passion is to inform, educate and support students as they navigate their way through the community college experience .  I transferred to California State University Northridge to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and to study K-8 education.  Shortly after teaching 1st grade I decided to return to Grad school at the University of La Verne to study Pupil Personnel Services and earned an M.S. 在教育. I’ve been working in higher education since 2010 in various departments of 学生服务. FYE is now my home and a great fit for me as I have endless opportunities to interact with our students, provide resource support and motivate students to achieve their goals!

我是一名自豪的VC校友! I graduated from VC in 2004 and transferred to UCSB as a Sociology major. I then received my Master of Science in Counseling & Guidance in College Student Personnel from California Lutheran University. As a first-generation college student, my transition from VC to UCSB was by far my most challenging. Thankful for the Counseling faculty who helped guide me and reassured me that I could do it! 就在那时, that I made it my mission to return to my home of VC and help other students navigate and transition into successful college students. My hope is that the students I work with will accomplish their academic goals and have a positive impact on their families and communities.

My earliest memory of having to create a supportive environment that fostered cooperation and compassion among others is when as a child in a household of five children all sharing the same room I had to learn to compromise and transmit a nurturing environment among family members. This role has now become a passion of mine in the academic setting.  As an educational leader and counselor I am a conduit of support to students.  I focus on creating learning communities where students can make decisions about their life in a self-empowering way.  A critical component of the work I do at 澳门皇家赌城在线大学 is to help demystifying the transition and demands of a college environment for first-time students. I received my Bachelors of Arts degree from UC Santa Cruz, with a major in Sociology and Latin Am艾丽卡n Latino Studies. 去蛞蝓!  My Masters of Education in Counseling is from the University of Southern California (USC).  去木马! I look forward to Guiding Pirates to Success (GPS). 让我做你的GPS!

I am thrilled to be serving as a counselor in FYE! 像你们很多人一样, years ago I was trying to figure out how college worked, 如何选择我的专业, what was I supposed to do with all my family responsibilities and balancing everything else in between.

In addition to migrating to the USA as a teenager, I was also the first one in my family to attend college. Thankfully there were many resources and individuals who helped me along the way. I am a proud graduate of 奥克斯纳德 College and their bgi的 program. I transferred to CSU Northridge where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. I also earned my Master of Science in Counseling & Guidance: PPS credential from California Lutheran University. I have worked since then at the University level, 奥克斯纳德 Union High Schools, International School & 过去17年的员工福利计划. Although I was born and raised in El Salvador, I like to call 奥克斯纳德 home; I studied in Puerto Rico during my undergraduate years and worked in Brazil for a few years.

I want to make sure First Year 学生 also feel at home away from home at VC. I am honored to work with you and support you in your first year of college as you achieve your educational and personal goals.

我很高兴。
